The cloth

The cloth we work in

Kenya Kanga Collection cuts and sews in Nairobi. Traditional kanga cloth, authentic woven kikoy and Maasai shuka are the three we are known for; towelling, fleece, Cotton Made in Africa prints, Malindi and Indian block prints and hand-woven sisal make up the rest.

Kikoy (kikoi)
Woven, not printed: a striped cotton cloth from the East African coast with a knotted fringe, worn as a wrap and used as a beach towel.
Kanga (khanga, leso)
A light printed cotton rectangle with a border, a central design and a line of Swahili, traditionally sold in pairs.
Maasai shuka (Maasai blanket)
The thick checked cloth, most often red with black or blue, that the Maasai wear as a blanket.

Your name on it

What we can put your name on

Aprons, oven mitts, towels, robes, bags, cushions, napkins and placemats can be embroidered with a name or a logo. There is a floor price per piece, and the final price is confirmed case by case because it depends on the artwork and the quantity.
