Personalised orders
Made for you,
the way you want it
Your lodge's name on the fleece your guests wrap up in on the morning drive. A quilt cut to the bed you already have. Two hundred gift bags in your colours, with your label inside. We have been doing this quietly for years for the people who ask. This page is us saying: please ask.
What we can make yours
Four ways to make a piece your own
They are different jobs in our workshop, so it helps to know which one you have in mind. Most of our customers end up asking for two of them together.
-
Embroidered
Your logo, your name or a date, stitched by our machine and finished by hand. Tell us the thread colours you like and where you would like it to sit, and we will show you before we stitch a single piece.
On the fleece side of a blanket, the bib of an apron, the corner of a kikoy towel, a robe or a napkin.
-
Labelled
A woven or printed label with your name, sewn in where a label belongs. Quieter than embroidery, quicker to make, and lovely on small things and on large numbers of them.
Inside the bags of a gift set; in the corner of a quilt, next to ours.
-
Made to measure
Cut and sewn to fit something you already own. Send us the measurements, pick a design and a colour family, and we do the rest.
A quilt to your bed, a throw to your sofa, covers to your cushions, a runner to your table.
-
In your colours
Usually we choose the mix of prints. If you would rather it matched your rooms or your brand, tell us the colours you love and we will build the whole order around them.
A company's gift sets all in its blues and ochres; a lodge's quilts in one palette.
Where it works best
The pieces we personalise
We keep this to the pieces it really suits, so that everything we put your name on is something we are proud of. If you have something else in mind, write to us; we would rather talk it through than say no.
- Aprons
The first thing most kitchens and hotels ask us to embroider, and the piece a logo sits most naturally on.
Embroidered · Labelled - Oven mitts
Embroidered to match the aprons: a kitchen's name on both, or a logo on the mitt alone.
Embroidered - Kikoy towels & robes
A name on the corner turns a pool towel into your hotel's, and it stays yours after a hundred washes.
Embroidered - Fleece blankets
Kanga or shuka on one side, soft fleece on the other, and your name on the fleece. Our most-asked-for personalised piece.
Embroidered · Made to measure - Quilts & patchwork throws
Pieced by hand in our Nairobi workshop and made to your bed or your sofa. No two are the same, and yours can carry your label.
Made to measure · Your colours · Labelled - Cooler bags & totes
The gift that gets used every weekend, with your name inside it every time.
Labelled · Embroidered - Cushion covers
You have the cushions; we make the covers to fit them, in the prints that suit the room.
Made to measure · Your colours - Napkins & placemats
A name or a monogram in the corner, in a thread that suits your tables. Restaurants ask for these, and so do people giving wedding presents.
Embroidered · Your colours
How it works
Six steps, and you will always know which one we are on
Nothing here is complicated. We just like you to see a piece before we make a hundred of them, and we like you to know when to expect them.
-
You tell us what you would like
Put the piece in your order as usual, choose your colours, sizes and quantities, and add your personalisation to it: your logo file (a PNG, SVG or PDF is perfect), the wording, the thread colours you like and where it should go. For something made to measure, send us the measurements, the design you like and the colours you love. You pay the usual deposit, and that is all you need to do for now.
Not sure what will work? Send us what you have and we will suggest.
-
We check your artwork and get it ready to stitch
Within two or three working days we look at your logo, tidy it where thread needs it tidier than ink, and prepare it for the embroidery machine. Then we send you a proof: a picture of exactly how it will look on your piece. Nothing is cut until you are happy with the proof, so changes at this stage cost nothing.
There is a one-off charge for preparing a logo, which we quote before we start. We keep the file, so you never pay it again for the same logo.
-
We make one for you first
One finished piece, exactly as the rest will be, within five to seven working days of the proof. We will send you a message the day it is ready.
The sample is charged at the piece's own price, and we credit it back to you when your order goes ahead.
-
You say yes, or tell us what to change
Come and see it in Karen, send a rider for it, or, if you are far from Nairobi, we will send you photographs and a short video, or courier it to you at cost. If something is not quite right, tell us; one round of changes is part of the price. When you are happy, a quick message from you is all the approval we need, and your sample becomes the standard every piece in your order is checked against.
-
We make the rest
Your order goes into the workshop the day you approve the sample, and our usual making time runs from that day. Your order page shows the date we expect to have it ready, and we will tell you if anything changes it. The balance is due before it leaves us, as with any order.
-
Next time is easy
We keep your artwork, your thread colours and your measurements on your account. The next time you order the same thing, there is no preparation charge and, if nothing has changed, no sample to wait for. Your second order is as simple as a plain one.
Good to know
A few things we would rather you heard from us first
- Our cloth is never quite the same twice
Kanga and kikoy prints change from bale to bale, and that is part of their charm. Your sample fixes the design and the colours; the exact print may differ a little across the order, and we will always keep it in the family you chose.
- We work to your measurements
Hand-cut and hand-sewn pieces come out within a couple of centimetres of the numbers you give us, and embroidery sits within a centimetre of where we agreed. If you need something exact, tell us and we will measure twice.
- Your artwork stays yours
We keep your logo only to make your orders. We never use it for anything else, and we never show your pieces to anyone without asking you first.
- Thread colours
We match your colours to the nearest shade in the thread we stock, and you see it on the proof before we stitch. If a shade matters to you, say so and we will find it.
- Changing your mind
Before the proof, anything can change for nothing. Once we have prepared your logo or made your sample, those two are ours to keep the cost of; the deposit on your pieces comes back to you if you decide not to go ahead, less those.
- Timing
The making time starts when you approve your sample, not when you place the order, so the sooner you say yes the sooner it arrives. Every email we send you says the date we are working to.
Some of what we have made
For lodges, companies and homes

A medallion quilt: you choose the design first, then we cut it to your size.
Made to a sofa rather than a bed. The measurements were the whole order.
Our label in the corner. Yours can sit beside it, or in its place.
A company's gift sets, every one in the colours they chose.
Shall we?
Shall we make something yours?
Open a trade account and we will be in touch as soon as it is ready. Quicker to talk? Send us a photo of what you have in mind on WhatsApp, and we will tell you what we can do with it.
